  • YMCA Romford Fitness for Life Open Day, Tuesday 11th November
    • YMCA Romford are hosting a special needs open day, in which they will be demonstrating the great range of activities we have on offer for all ages and abilities.

       Romford YMCA staff running the special needs sessions are fully qualified to deal with a vast range of conditions and are both professional and sensitive to every individual's personal requirements.

      10.00am - 2.00pm: SPECIAL NEEDS GYM SESSION

      11.15am - 12.45pm: SPORTSABILITY

      11.30am - 1.00pm: YOGA FOR THE DISABLED

      6.00pm - 10.00pm: SPECIAL NEEDS GYM SESSION

  • Assist UK Conference 'Setting Our Own Agenda' 4th November 2008
    • The Conference will be held on Tuesday November 4th at the centrally located Manchester Conference Centre. David Russell from THIIS has kindly agreed to act as chair for the day and all speakers have now confirmed.

       

      The conference is a high-profile event where we will be addressed by Glen Mason, Director of Social Care Leadership and Performance, Department of Health, with contributions from policy makers at the UK and Scottish Parliaments and Welsh Assembly. This is an opportunity for participants to engage with current topics affecting the world of disability, and pose questions to a variety of experts / professionals from our sector.

       

  • Disability provisions at the BFI 52nd London Film Festival
    • Sub-titled and Audio-described Screenings & Shape Tickets Partnership at Festival  

      Continuing the Festival’s commitment to providing subtitles and audio description, this year’s programme has five films with this provision for people with sight and hearing impairments. In addition, all foreign-language films across the Festival are subtitled.

       

  • The Barbara Diamond Memorial Lecture 2008
    • The fight of a lifetime - Tara Flood on disability, inclusion and equality

      Disability campaigner Tara Flood will be discussing her extraordinary career next week at an in-conversation event at the University of Westminster.

  • HALF MARATHON THROUGH THE LONDON ROYAL PARKS IN OCTOBER!
    • KEEN London is a charity providing sports and recreational activities for children with special needs and their siblings by matching them up one to one with volunteer coaches so that the children can participate to the best of their ability. Please help us raise much needed funds to expand our work by running in the first ever half marathon through central London. The Royal Parks half marathon is on October 12th 2008 and KEEN still has some places available.
