Single Equality Green Paper

Join the RADAR Facebook group 'We want more equality'.

RADAR believes that the Single Equality Green Paper is a missed opportunity to make real equal rights for all groups in society.

RADAR Chief Executive Liz Sayce said "In the current climate of the emerging Commission for Equality and Human Rights this Green Paper is an opportunity to pave out the path for progression across all equality strands.   The Green Paper that has been produced is a missed opportunity to establish legislation that will be sufficient to enable real equality."

The Green Paper fails to make an explicit commitment to enable Independent Living for all, and weakens the Public Sector Duty whereby all public bodies have to pay due regard to disability and other equalities.

RADAR is campaigning with the Disability Charities Consortium to strengthen the Green Paper.  We have begun a discussion group on facebook for anyone who thinks the Green Paper should provide more equality for everyone in society.

The Disability Charities Consortium consultation submission will appear on this page in due course.

RADAR's position is laid out in more detail by Liz Sayce in this speech.
