  • MPs forced to hide mental health problems
    • 16/07/2008: A new report published today by the All Party Parliamentary Group on Mental Health, with support from the Royal College of Psychiatrists and the mental health charities Mind, Rethink and Stand to Reason, shows that one in five MPs surveyed has experience of a mental health problem but fears disclosing this because of the stigma and discrimination associated with mental health issues.

  • Law Commission to review Adult Social Care Law
    • 10/06/2008: The law Commission has announced that it will examine Adult Social care law in its 10th Annual Review. To read RADAR's response click here.
  • London Disability Arts Forum launches urgent appeal for funding
    • Without an immediate cash injection, the London Disability Arts Forum will close at the end of June, after funding from the Arts Council ran out on March 31st. Click the above link to download a donations form.

  • Prime Minister Announces Review of Social Care

  • RADAR signs up to Fuel Poverty Briefing
    • 24/04/2008: RADAR has signed up to a briefing by Energywatch for a summit on fuel poverty which took place on 23rd April. The summit, attended by John Hutton, Hillary Benn and members of the energy sector discussed problems caused by rising energy prices. Read the full text of the briefing here.
  • Equality and Diversity Forum writes to European Commission
    • RADAR has co-signed an Equality and Diversity Forum letter to the European Commission regarding its proposal for a new Equal Treatment Directive.
  • RADAR backs 'Face Equality' campaign
    • RADAR has pledged to support this new campaign, launched by Changing Faces
  • United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
    • 02/05/2008: This enters into force on Saturday, May 3, 2008 – which is 30 days after the 20th country ratified the Convention. As of today, 25 countries have ratified the CRPD and 15 states have ratified the Optional Protocol. RADAR will continue to encourage the British Government to ratify the Convention as soon as possible.
  • Disability Benefits Consortium warns MPs
    • 18/04/2008: The Disability Benefits Consortium has written to Parliament (the Select Committee on the Merits of Statutory Instruments) to highlight the significant risk that new regulations under the Employment and Support Allowance could leave some disabled people worse off, because those who move from from Incapacity Benefit to Job Seekers' Allowance could lose a range of other benefits.

  • 12 Sexual Assaults, 7 Years, No Justice
    • 16/04/2008: RADAR and other disability groups have reacted with fury to the news that a Scottish woman with learning disabilities, who was sexually assaulted and raped as many as 12 times over 7 years while in local authority care, must live as a prisoner in her own home as the perpetrators, who live locally, will never be prosecuted. Read RADAR's response here.
