A vote on the motion was taken following the debate. The results were as follows:

• In Favour: - 31
• Against - 35
• Abstained - 34

A further vote was then taken on the amended motion "This house believes the majoriy of disabled people can work - and should do so with effective support and benefits protection", which was carried overhelmingly, with 74 in favour and none opposed.
