Radar (The Royal Association for Disability Rights) are pleased to have released an iPhone app – the Radar National Key Scheme app to provide up-to-date information on 9,000 accessible toilet facilities in the UK, as part of a wider project to take its National Key Scheme (NKS) mobile. The information is currently available in print format by ordering the yearly published National Key Scheme Guide. Now this valuable information will be available on all Smartphone devices, with Android and Blackberry to follow shortly. The app will be available for iPhone, Android and Blackberry – will not only give users access to the complete database, but will also use the GPS system within the device to allow users to immediately locate their nearest disabled toilet. The service will allow users to quickly find, review, rate and verify accessible toilet facilities directly from the app, which will be a major plus point for those with injury, ill health or a disability.
Radar’s Deputy Chief Executive, Mark Shrimpton, believes the app will make this valuable information more readily available, commenting;
“We really want to embrace mobile technology to make our information even more accessible to Radar NKS users, on devices that people already carry everywhere with them. Mobile apps are the perfect solution to this and Tecmark will develop the app across multiple platforms, making it available to as many people as possible.”
Digital marketing agency Tecmark has been appointed to design, develop and launch the brand new app. Tecmark Client Services Director, Scott Hague, says: “We’re delighted to work with Radar and turn their concept into reality. The Radar app is designed to meet the specific needs of the users, allowing them to quickly locate, publish and view user comments and gain directions to there nearest disabled toilet, wherever they are in the UK. We’ve worked closely with the client to ensure that a community driven feel is instilled within the app, across all of the current major Smartphone platforms.”
