Achieving equality for disabled people in the public sector 2009/2010 (Equality)

Our Disability Equality Duty (DED) project, funded by the European Commission, aimed to identify, raise awareness of and disseminate good practice guidance on using the Disability Equality Duty (DED) to drive improvements in public services and performance and deliver greater equality and inclusion for disabled people. Because the project was focused on good practice, it is still relevant under the public sector equality duty.

‘Beyond Good Intentions: Promoting disability equality in Britain in a statutory framework’ discusses the learning and findings from our EC-backed project ‘Achieving Equality for disabled people in the public sector’.

It highlights and discusses good practice in implementing the DED in order to support organisations in other countries in lobbying for similar positive public sector duties on disability.

The report is also available in other languages: Dutch [NL], French [Fr], German [De], Italian [It], Polish [Pl], Portuguese [Pt] and Spanish [Es].[MD1]

In 2009 Radar hosted a conference: ‘Doing the Duty. The Disability Equality Duty: Impact so far and legal enforcement’
