Welcome to RADAR's People of the Year Awards 2010
I am thrilled to launch "People of the Year 2010", the largest human rights event of its kind in Europe, and its theme, 'Ahead of the Curve'.
In 2009 we 'Future Proofed Equality' and significantly influenced new equalities law. The next goal for private and public sector organisations is to stay 'ahead of the curve' when it comes to disability equality expertise. When we put inclusion at the heart of practice, it helps us use scarce resources well.
In many ways the disability sector is already 'ahead of the curve': in effective customer and public engagement, personalised services, inclusive technology and accessible design. RADAR's ground-breaking work to support and mentor disabled leaders means more and more disabled people are currently involved in shaping business, services - and indeed politics!
After the huge success of 2009, we will be returning to Battersea Evolution for the 44th People of the Year Awards on November 29th 2010. This incredible venue will play host to a magical evening of celebrations, with prominent speakers and presenters including host Cerrie Burnell, and will be a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate your commitment to disability rights and empowerment. See 2009 Gallery and Award Winners for more information about last year's wonderful event.
None of this would be possible without the support of our sponsors. For more information about becoming involved with the People of the Year Awards please see the sponsorship page.
With the launch of People of the Year 2010, the hunt is now on for the very best practice in disability equality - to identify the organisations and individuals who are 'ahead of the curve' and can show us all the way forward. Please nominate the good practices that YOU are aware of or are involved in - and join with us to make businesses, public services and society inclusive for all.
Thank you for your support, and we look forward to seeing you at Battersea on 29th November 2010.
