Radar are a pan-disability organisation led by people with lived experience of disability or health conditions. Formed in 1977 as the Royal Association for Disability and Rehabilitation, we are a national organisation with a membership of over 800 groups and individuals working for a just and equal society whose strength is human difference. We want to enable individuals, networks and policy-makers to do things differently – and better.
From its very inception, Radar has been at the forefront of the disability rights movement in Britain. Radar played a leading role in the campaigns of the 1980s which led to the passing of the 1995 Disability Discrimination Act (DDA). Our work continued and contributed in the strengthening of the hard won rights of in the 2010 Equality Act, improving disabled peoples access to health, education and employment.
We disseminate guides written by and for people living with disability or health conditions, on managing money, getting the best from IT, progressing your career and much more.
Distribute Radar National Key Scheme keys to the 9000 accessible toilets for disabled people in the UK.
Support emerging leaders with personal experience of disability or health conditions through our leadership and empowerment programmes.
Give disabled people a voice, so that issues raised by disabled people across the country are presented directly to Parliament and Government.
Why Make a Will?
If you are making a Will for the first time, we advise you to get in touch with a solicitor. The cost is usually quite reasonable. If you have already made a Will, you can add to or change its provisions at any time.
There are various ways in which you can help us when making a Will:
A Residual bequest is either the residue or part residue of your estate after all other legacies, taxes, debts and expenses have been paid.
A Pecuniary bequest is a legacy of a specific sum of money.
We appreciate that leaving a legacy is a very personal matter and your family and friends should be considered first. However, to continue supporting disabled people in communities like yours, we need to know we can rely on legacies for future income. So please consult a solicitor today – and help brighten the future for disabled people in the UK.
If you have any queries about making a Will or wish to let us know that you are leaving a legacy, please contact Radar on 020 7250 3222 or radar@radar.org.uk.
