About Us

We are the Royal Association for Disability Rights.

We are a pan-disability organisation led by people with lived experience of disability or health conditions. We work in broad partnerships to have the widest impact.

Our vision is a just and equal society whose strength is human difference.

Our mission is to enable individuals, networks and policy-makers to do things differently – and better.

Radar is passionate about achieving equality and human rights for all.  We influence change by drawing on our expertise, high quality products and powerful partnerships– helping organisations across the country and informing national and local policy.  We put participation at the heart of our activities: disabled people lead and participate in our work and our work leads to greater participation by disabled people in the whole of society, at every level.

Disability is an ordinary part of human experience but is linked to needless disadvantage and injustice.

Designing disability IN to business, products and policies from the outset results in better workplaces and services for all.

Radar has the solutions that can make Britain work better for everyone.

We have 4 major objectives.

Freedom and choice in relationships, family and home.

An end to disability-related poverty.

More people living with disability or health conditions in leadership positions – in every sector

Greater equality and justice for all disabled people and joined-up action to prevent and combat bullying and violence against disabled people

We work in 3 ways:

  • people giving advice to others in the same situation, mobilizing the power of stories, on topics such as sustainable employment and money
  • support and leadership development for individuals, groups and networks, to increase citizenship voice and influence – supporting, coaching and mentoring today’s leaders young and old; in senior and junior positions to realise their full potential
  • policy and practice solutions for policy-makers, the public sector and business, producing new thinking on ‘disability rights made real’
